A Typical Day at Green Mountain Montessori
Children arrive between 8:30 and 9:00 a. m. and are greeted and helped to find an activity. Many return to work saved with their name card the day before. The morning moves between chosen work, small lessons, classroom jobs, and time together. Afternoons bring outdoor play, naps for the youngest, and continued work for older children.
What this looks like in practice
Mornings begin with a greeting and a choice of work. Children may return to a project saved with a name card from the day before. A teacher gives individual or small-group lessons while others work alone. Classroom jobs get done: snack prepared, fish fed, cloths folded. By mid-morning the group gathers for snack, stories, and news.
That long, unhurried work period builds something a parent notices at home. A child who chose an activity, finished it, and put it back begins to carry that order into other parts of the day. The mixed ages help too. Younger children watch older peers and try what they see. Older children practice patience and care.
