Preschool Education Consultant
Preschool Education Consultant & Special Education Teacher
Kathleen completed her BS in Early Childhood Education at the University of Maryland. She later earned her MA in School Counseling in Vermont. She works as a School Counselor at the Alburgh Community Education Center with over 200 Pre-K through 8th graders. She joins Green Mountain Montessori School as their Act 166 Consultant.
What this looks like in practice
A consultant who works with Act 166 sits alongside teachers and families, not apart from them. Kathleen's days are spent in schools, where she sees how funding questions meet real classrooms. She reviews paperwork with parents. She talks with teachers about what a child needs. At Green Mountain Montessori, that means helping families understand how Act 166 applies to their child, and what the school can offer.
Funding questions can slow a family down, and the delay is felt at home. A child who could be in a classroom stays home another month. A parent fills out forms without knowing who to call. A consultant who knows the process can shorten that wait. Kathleen's work is to make the path from application to first day clearer for the family.
